Rehumanizer

A sort of companion track for Epitaph33; I wrote it within the same night and it’s in the same vain of tempo/time signature experimentation.

The song starts in 5/4 timing and is fairly hectic for the initial segment then drops off into a short interlude which is where the signature changes to 4/4 and reuses the instruments from the first segment in a different way.

It’s still heavily a work in progress that I’ll go back and work on in the coming weeks. I’m particularly interested in extending the initial segment and developing more melody and extending the interlude a little longer.
This will probably have the song run quite long, but after some feedback from some friends I don’t think it really matters all that much.

Solar Flare

Proud of this one. Me and Parker worked pretty hard on this one, hopefully this’ll be a song to make it to our album in some way or another.
I thought it kinda sounded like Boards of Canada, which is certainly something I was happy with when we wrote it. Boards of Canada are bloody brilliant.
It’s quite a long song and most of the synth work was done with Absynth 5. Enjoy.

Absynth 5

I gotta say, I really love Absynth 5. It’s one of the best vst’s I’ve ever used. It’s just really powerful and flexible.
I’d say it’s pretty heavily aimed at ethereal synth and soundscapes; but it’s more then capable of doing leads and basses, things like that.

The video above focuses on the mutation ability, which is pretty good for generating unique sounds with very little time wasting involved. If you’ve got the money for it, go buy it, it’s absolutely worth it.

Epitaph33

So this is a new one I’ve been working on today. Pretty out there for me; really experimenting with something new.

The song is in 7/4 timing to start with, which is something I’ve never had the guts to try (mainly because I’m completely inept when it comes to timing). But lately I’ve been listing to lots of ‘breakcore’ music; bands like Igorrr, Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares.
I’ve also been listening to lots of progressive metal the makes heavy use of polyrhythms; so that’s primarily what is exciting me musically at the moment.
As a result we’ve got this odd song, probably a sign of things to come from me; or at least a style of music I’ll incorporate into other more commonly grounded songs.

One of the things I thought was cool when I was writing this song was that it goes for exactly three minutes and thirty three seconds. Adding the 33 to the title of the song was an off handed decision. Inconsequential really, but it made me smile considering how much I loved all the numerology in Marilyn Manson’s stuff around the Mechanical Animals era.
The synth’s are a combination of NI’s Massive and Reason 5′s Malstrom.
And the majority of the manipulation is from Illformed’s Glitch and various Ableton effects.

I’ll Kill You

Still got lots of work to do on this song, It’ll probably never get any further than this though. It’s just a little bit of fun.

Whore of Babble-on

This is a song I’m particularly proud of. The most notable comparison to any of our other works would be Silencing Machine as it’s in the same style of music and pacing. Enjoy.

I Still Feel You

This one is a little weird; got an interesting vocal line that I got using The Mouth, check it out below.

I only started working on this one a few days ago so it’s still pretty firmly in the work in progress area. But I’m pretty happy with the overall sound design and the rough mix, so enjoy!
